The Royal Queensland Show, or the Ekka as it is popularly known, returns to thrill Brisbanites from all over.
The Ekka is back with more fairy floss, heart-stopping rides, showbags, animal attractions and cultural celebrations. The Ekka, one of the most anticipated events in Queensland, returns to celebrate Queensland’s cultural heritage.
From August 8-17, head over to the RNA Showgrounds and join in the fun. See animals up close, taste tantalizing food, attend fun workshops, and scream your heart out as you try a host of carnival rides. The young and the young at heart will thoroughly enjoy this year’s Ekka.
Be prepared to be thrilled by the brand new professionally produced night show - Ekka Ignites 360 presented by B105.
There'll be new lights, all new fireworks and the biggest laser and water effects show ever seen in an Australian stadium! The 360 experience will ignite the Energex Main Arena in a blaze of colour, surround sound music, fireworks, fire dancers, international artists, H20 and speed bike action bringing the Ekka to life in pyrotechnic colour!
The showbag finder will be back! The rides promise to provide heaps of fun. Keep an eye out for more information on the 2013 Ekka rides.
Animal lovers will be thrilled to meet so many interesting animals. About 10,000 animals visit Ekka, including 2,500 dogs, 300 cats, 200 fish, 150 alpacas, and 2,500 cattle. Ekka has been a place for families to create fun-filled memories as their kids interact with the animals. Cuddle a lamb, watch a chicken hatch, feed a calf, or milk a cow - there are lots of ways for your young ones to get involved with nature's young ones. Check out Animal Boulevard, watch the animals being groomed at the Animal Arena, inspect the finest beef cattle at the Beef Pavilion, enjoy a horse show at the Horse and Pony Highlights, and watch the Animal Competitions.
Savor organic produce, rich food and delightful sweets. Traditional Ekka favourites like chocolate-dipped strawberries, fresh scones with jam and cream, fairy floss and dagwood dogs are all part of the menu.
The kids can learn beyond-the-classroom lessons through hands-on experiences. Ekka is full of interactive exhibits and activities for students. Students get to hone their talents and skills at Ekka.
